Watch out for the new way markers on the Ferns Village Heritage Trail. The way markers can be seen set into pavements along Upper and Lower Main St. The trail, which starts at the old graveyard adjacent to St. Edan’s Cathedral is part of the Wexford Walking Trails network – a countywide network of walking trails, ranging from hillside, woodland, coastal, historic and more.

The way markers or studs are not typical of the way marking posts used in the network but fit with our trail’s urban feel and are a lovely contrast to Ferns significance as the Ancient Capital of Leinster. While they are just a few days in situ, feedback has been extremely positive. There are 18 sites of interest along the Trail bringing you through Ferns significant history – from early christian through medieval to 1798 and 1916.
