Free entry to the Medieval Ferns Experience will enable you to have an interactive experience – the story of our medieval history told through a variety of media including audio visual, sensory and virtual reality. Its a fun way to engage with the history of the Ancient Capital of Leinster and suitable for young and not so young – you don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy this unique experience. Free entry to the Medieval Ferns Experience is on Wednesday, August 21st from 11am to 4pm.
On a guided walking tour you can walk in the footsteps of saints, Gaelic Kings and Norman knights and hear of characters and events that changed Irish history. Each tour on Tuesday and Thursday (Aug 20th and 22nd) will start at 2pm – meet at the gates to the graveyard adjacent to St. Edan’s Cathedral. The tour will be given by local, volunteer guides – it will take over 1 hour and is a leisurely way to hear stories and visit sites of national importance.
