5th Class in Scoil Naomh Maodhóg have been working on a fantastic Tapestry Project with Artist Mairéad
Holohan from The Crafts Council of Ireland. In preparation for the Gathering in Ferns in June, they
researched their own Family Crest and using cotton, wax and material dye they each created their own
crest. Each child also used stitching as part of their work. The central panel is a mesh, made of coloured
tissue paper and glue. The overall size is very impressive being almost two meters square.
This fantastic tapestry is now on display in our school hall (visitors welcome) and it will be pride of place
on the June Gathering Weekend. See Mairead Holohan Artist Blog for step by step details.
